Overview
Nobody likes to admit she or he has experienced urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, frequency, urgency or vaginal prolapse. The truth is that people of all ages suffer pain and embarrassment from bladder, bowel and pelvic floor problems.
Providence Continence Center is designed solely for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder and bowel incontinence and pelvic floor disorders. Here experts who specialize in urinary, colon and reproductive organs work together to help men and women of all ages.
Bladder, bowel and pelvic conditions affect not only older adults. Some people develop problems in their 20s, especially women of childbearing age. The good news is that treatment is available. Often it does not involve surgery.
Providence Continence Center specializes in:

 |

Providence Continence Center uses a team of doctors and surgeons, nurses and therapists – all working together – to create an effective treatment plan for each person.
Assessment and diagnosis
Each new patient receives a complete physical exam at the Continence Center. This includes a pelvic exam, which evaluates bladder and pelvic muscles, and a neurologic exam, which evaluates nerves that control the bowel and bladder. Later, if surgery is being considered as a treatment option, the patient may receive additional tests, such as urodynamics, cystoscopy and fluoroscopy.
Treatment options
The most effective treatment will depend on the patient’s specific condition and medical history. Treatment options may include:

 |
A change in diet or fluids |

 |
Physical therapy |

 |
Medication |

 |
Surgical repair and reconstruction |

 |
Minimally invasive techniques |
Providence Continence Center offers hope for relief of incontinence and painful pelvic conditions. Medical insurance, including Medicare, covers the cost of most diagnostic procedures and treatments. For information or to schedule a consultation, please call 503-216-6226 or 503-215-6669.
