Providence St. Vincent Hosts Healing Workshop for Cancer Patients and Their Families

Mar. 12, 2008

WHAT: Gifts of the Imagination: Guided Imagery for Surviving and Thriving Beyond Cancer. A workshop for those touched by cancer.

WHEN/WHERE: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 5
Providence St. Vincent Medical Center

Souther Auditorium
9155 SW Barnes Rd., Portland

DETAILS: This workshop is a rare opportunity for people to hear from Belleruth Naperstek, a psychotherapist nationally recognized as a master of guided imagery, healing, and intuition.

Also known as biofeedback, meditation and visualization, guided imagery is a relaxation technique aimed at promoting a sense of peace and tranquility during a difficult time in a person’s life. Guided imagery is backed by decades of research. It can help people with pain, headaches, anxiety and a host of other chronic conditions. Guided imagery is also used to enhance healing from surgery or other medical treatments and reduce side effects of cancer treatments.

Naperstek’s compact discs on guided imagery are used by hospitals, clinics and cancer centers around the world. “We feel so fortunate that Belleruth Naperstek is bringing her talent and expertise to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center,” says Toni Lonning, Providence Health & Services cancer counselor. “She offers valuable insight for men and women who have been touched by cancer. She also provides valuable insight for health care providers and those supporting friends and family coping with illness.”

Registration is $150, with discounts available for patients. If you’d like to register for this conference, please call 1-800-423-9882.
