New Chief Executive Announced for Providence North Coast
Dec. 7 2009
SEASIDE, Ore. – Providence Health & Services has named Krista Farnham as the new chief executive for Providence's North Coast Service Area, which includes Providence Seaside Hospital. Farnham will assume her new role by March 31, 2010."The Providence Mission and core values are at the heart of what I believe in," said Farnham. "I'm honored to be part of a community that is so supportive of its hospital and clinics."
Farnham has been with Providence eight years, joining Providence Seaside as associate administrator in 2006. She will replace John Schwartz, who has been serving as interim chief executive. Schwartz will continue to work at Providence Seaside for the next few months during the search for Farnham's replacement as associate administrator.
"I want to acknowledge the great job that John and Krista have done in Seaside," says Terry Smith, chief operating officer for Providence in Oregon. "We've seen many positive changes under their leadership, including new and remodeled surgical suites, the addition of an MRI, and new extended hours at our clinics. I look forward to continued growth and improvement in our Providence North Coast ministry as Krista assumes this new role."
Farnham received her bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota and her master's in health care administration from the University of Washington. Before joining Providence Seaside, Farnham was the regional operations director for our hospitalist programs in the Portland Service Area. Previously, Farnham served in leadership roles for Extendicare Health facilities in Port Angeles, Wash. and in her home town of Klamath Falls. Farnham knows first-hand the unique value that an excellent health care facility can add to a smaller community.
