Brilliant Watercolor Paintings Grace Walls at Providence St. Vincent

Sept. 6, 2008

WHAT: Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, in collaboration with the Beaverton Arts Commission, presents vibrant watercolor paintings from artist Britt McNamee, on display now at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.

WHEN: September through November 2008

WHERE: Providence St. Vincent Medical Center
9205 S.W. Barnes Road
Portland, Ore.

DETAILS: From abstract images to delicate flowers, the Providence Gallery at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center presents a variety of vibrant and creative watercolor paintings by Portland artist Britt McNamee. McNamee’s collection of colorful artwork included landscapes, architecture and lifelike figures. “Although I enjoy painting real subjects, I strive to include abstract elements within my paintings,” notes McNamee. “I hope viewers will respond positively to my vision of reality.”

At age 15, McNamee came to the U.S. from Sweden as an exchange student. Soon afterward, she became a U.S. citizen, living first in the Chicago area and later settling in Portland. McNamee’s watercolor paintings have been exhibited at the Elsie Stuhr Center, Barnes & Noble, Beaverton City Hall, the Beaverton Fine Arts & Wine Festival and the Village Gallery of Arts.

The Providence Gallery exhibit is located in the main tower, second floor hallway of the hospital. Artwork is changed quarterly to showcase the creativity and culture of mature adults from Washington County and to emphasize the importance of art in healing. The art exhibit is a collaboration between Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and the Beaverton Arts Commission.
