Almost every medical student and resident in the US carries Dr. Gilbert’s name around in their pocket. Take a look at The Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy in your pocket. The first name you see on the cover (other than the late Dr. Sanford) is that of Dr. Gilbert, Director of Medical Education at Providence Portland Medical Center. He is also an author of The Sanford Guide to HIV/AIDS Therapy and recent past-president of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
