| We constantly adapt our curriculum to the current and future needs of our residents. Improving the Health Care System – Interns meet individually with leaders of the healthcare system so they can understand and begin to see how each can contribute to its improvement. Interns carry out a group collaborative Quality Improvement research project. Advanced Focus Areas – Specially designed clinical experiences allow interested residents to gain special certification in areas of personal interest. Residents who elect to pursue an area of Advanced Focus will graduate from residency with greater knowledge and an expanded, explicitly defined skill set. This allows them to make special contributions to their practices and to their patients once in practice. Current Advanced Focus areas include Hospitalist Medicine, HIV Care, Women’s Health, End-of-Life Care, and Behavioral Medicine. International Health – We have a decade long partnership with Moi University in Kenya. Working in developing countries fosters cross-cultural understanding and nurtures the altruistic spirits of physicians. Collaborative Continuity Practices – Residents may tailor their continuity experiences to their personal educational goals. Weekly continuity clinics with general medicine faculty, geriatricians, medicine subspecialists or gynecologists are all options. |
